Due to the wider availability of Fentanyl, the Opioid Epidemic may be getting even more deadly. Clandestine laboratories are producing the drug and mixing it with Heroin. This "cocktail" now has several street names. Those names include Apace, China Girl, Dance Fever, or He-Man. Theses deadly mixes are now infiltrating the streets, neighborhoods, and workplaces. A recently published CDC report shared that Fentanyl was among the top 10 drugs most frequently involved in deaths from overdose between 2011 and 2016.
2011 - Oxycodone was the leading cause of overdose deaths.
2012-2015 - Heroin was the culprit for the most overdose deaths.
2016-2018 - Fentanyl surpassed both Oxycodone and Heroin.
On January 31, 2019, US Customs and Border Protection announce the biggest ever Fentanyl bust in history. 254 pounds of Fentanyl was seized in Arizona at the Mexican border in a produce truck.
